Paris Olympics 2024: The Paris Olympics is starting on 26 August and will end on 11 August. The biggest challenge will be the security of about 10,500 players from all over the world and the lakhs of fans coming here. There is also a risk of cyber attacks on these games. The situation has changed in Paris, the capital of France. To make the security system foolproof, the help of the army and AI is being taken along with the police.

Army contingent is always ready for security

Police squads are patrolling the streets in Paris. Fighter jets are flying in the sky and army troops have been prepared in such a way that they can reach any sports venue or sports village within half an hour in case of emergency. The banks of the Seine river, which will host the opening ceremony, were earlier planned to be kept open, but now security barriers are being installed on both sides. Around 10,000 army personnel along with 45,000 police have been deployed for the Paris Games amid the ongoing war in Ukraine and Gaza and rising international tensions.

Paris has the largest military camp since the Second World War. General Eric Chasboeuf, deputy commander of the anti-terrorism military force called Sentinel, said that at the beginning it was very strange for the general public to see us but now it has become normal. To tighten security, AWACS surveillance flights monitoring the airspace along with Rafale fighter jets, Reaper surveillance drones, helicopters equipped with sharpshooters and drone-neutralizing equipment will monitor the skies of Paris.

The area around the Seine River will be declared a no-fly zone

During the opening ceremony, an area of 150 km around the Seine river will be declared a no-fly zone. Along with this, cameras equipped with AI software will also help in dealing with any potential threat. In this case, France is also getting help from more than 40 countries, which have sent more than 1900 police forces. Home Minister Gerald Darmanin said that we are especially investigating Russian and Belarusian citizens. 155 people are considered ‘very dangerous’ and terrorist level threat. They are also being kept away from the opening ceremony and the games, in some cases the police are searching for weapons and their homes and computers.
