The Indian men’s hockey team avenged their yesterday’s defeat by defeating Argentina 4-3 in the FIH Pro Hockey League match played at the Kalinga Stadium here on Sunday. India had lost to Argentina 1-3 in a penalty shoot-out yesterday. Young midfielder Hardik Singh converted a penalty corner in the 17th minute to give the team a 1-0 lead. Soon after, in the 20th minute, young drag-flicker Jugraj Singh also converted a penalty corner to extend the lead to 2-0. The second quarter ended with the same score.
Argentina, however, made a comeback from the third quarter. Not only did he improve his defense, but he showed the edge in the attack for which he is known. The experienced de la Torre Nicolas, who played the role of midfielder and forward, did not lose a penalty corner in the 40th minute and scored a brilliant goal to help the team return to the score 2-1. After finishing the third quarter on a good note, Argentina scored a goal at the start of the fourth and last quarter to level the score 2-2.

Young forward Tomas Domne converted a penalty stroke in the 51st minute. Meanwhile, although Jugraj converted another penalty corner in the 52nd minute to again give the team a 3-2 lead, forward Ferreiro Martin scored a brilliant field goal in the 56th minute to level the score again at 3-3.
