Former Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni revealed the secret of wearing the number 7 jersey during a virtual conversation organized by India Cements. Chennai Super Kings is owned by India Cements. Since the beginning of his career, Dhoni has been wearing the number 7 jersey in every format of the game, be it playing for the country in T20 leagues at the franchise or international level.
Dhoni has made number 7 very coveted with his cricketing achievements. Earlier the number 7 jersey used to be of great relevance in football, as this number jersey was worn by legendary players like David Beckham, Raul and Cristiano Ronaldo, but Mahendra Singh Dhoni has made it relevant in cricket as well.
During the virtual conversation, Dhoni said, ‘Many people initially thought that seven is a lucky number for me. However, initially there was a very simple reason behind it. I was born on the seventh day of July. The seventh day of the seventh month. That was the reason why instead of going into which number is a good number, I said I would choose my date of birth.’
MS Dhoni Said, ‘Then people kept asking me about it. So, I kept adding to that answer. 7/7 And then, the year is 81. 7 is subtracted from eight. It was a very natural number. I absorbed what people kept telling me. When other people ask me, I answer accordingly. Seven is a natural number. It doesn’t go against you. So I added this to my answer as well. I’m not too superstitious about it, but it’s a number that’s close to my heart. So, I have kept it with me.’
Dhoni made his international debut for India in 2004 against Bangladesh wearing the number 7 jersey. After that he never looked back. The legendary cricketer is the only captain in the history of the game to win all three ICC trophies.
MS Dhoni Under his leadership, Team India became champions in the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup and 2013 Champions Trophy. In the IPL, Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings to four titles wearing the number 7 jersey.
