Former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson, who has won the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy twice, will now help Delhi Capitals become champions for the first time. Indian Premier League franchise Delhi Capitals on Tuesday appointed former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson as the assistant coach for this season of the tournament.
Shane Watson will work with Delhi’s coaching staff along with head coach Ricky Ponting, assistant coach Pravin Amre, assistant coach Ajit Agarkar and bowling coach James Hope. Delhi Capitals is commanded by Rishabh Pant. Shane Watson was a part of Rajasthan Royals from the initial season of IPL (2008) to 2015.
In IPL 2008, Rajasthan Royals won the IPL title under Shane Warne. Watson was a part of Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2016 and 2017. He played for Chennai Super Kings from IPL 2018 to 2020. Chennai Super Kings led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the title in IPL 2018. Shane Watson scored a century in the final of that season. Shane Watson was also voted Most Valuable Player twice in IPL.
