The Indian Premier League 2022 (IPL 2022) is now heading towards the end. The playoff matches will be played from Tuesday. Some uncapped players performed well in the league, while some international players did poorly. Apart from Umran Malik, the uncapped players who performed brilliantly included Tilak Verma, Arshdeep Singh, Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi and Mohsin Khan. However, there are some uncapped players who were left sitting on the bench and did not get a chance to show their skills. Let’s take a look at 3 such uncapped players who should have got a chance in the league stage of IPL 2022.
Rajvardhan Hangargekar- Rajvardhan Hangargekar, a member of the Under-19 World Cup winning team, was bought by Chennai Super Kings. Looking at his all-round performance, it seemed that he would get a chance to play in the initial stage of the league itself, but it did not happen. During the toss in the last match of Chennai, the captain of the team Mahendra Singh Dhoni had told the reason for feeding him.
Dhoni had said, “He is someone who bowls good length and bowls at a good pace, he gets some bounce, but he needs to give time to improve in other areas as well. You want to groom the players, but also give them ample opportunities for it. We are really excited about them. He is strong, but there are some areas in which we want him to improve.”
Yash Dhul- Under the captaincy of Yash Dhul, the Under-19 World Cup team became the winner. His performance in Ranji Trophy was also superb. He was bought by the team of Delhi Capitals, but he did not get a chance to play. After Prithvi Shaw’s health deteriorated, the team battled for the opener. KS Bharat, Sarfaraz Khan and Mandeep Singh got a chance. Dhul kept waiting for his turn. Yash scored 2 centuries and a double century in only 3 matches of Ranji Trophy.
Arjun Tendulkar- Arjun Tendulkar first joined Mumbai Indians in 2021 and was re-signed by the franchise for Rs 30 lakh. After the team re-signed him, it looked like he was ready to make his IPL debut. Mumbai gave many uncapped players a chance to debut this season. The five-time IPL champions did not give him a chance. He was not included in the playing XI even in the last match against Delhi Capitals.
