Kieron Pollard, the former West Indies captain and part of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, took an indirect attack on commentator Aakash Chopra. On Thursday, June 2, 2022, he made a tweet tagging Aakash Chopra. In this tweet, he asked Akash Chopra, the former Test opener of the Indian cricket team, if his fan base and followers have increased. Pollard’s tweet went viral on social media in no time. Interestingly, Pollard deleted the tweet after it went viral.
The reason behind Kieron Pollard’s tweet is not yet clear, but it could have something to do with criticizing Aakash Chopra for his poor performance in the recently concluded IPL 2022. During commentary in IPL, Aakash Chopra had criticized Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard on several occasions.
Aakash Chopra also asked how many chances Kieron Pollard will continue to get this season. For Pollard too, the IPL 2022 season was a forgettable one. Pollard wrote in his deleted tweet, ‘Hopefully the fan base and followers @cricketaakash grows … keep it up.. #T20!!’ You can see a screenshot of Kieron Pollard’s deleted tweet below.

In IPL 2022, Kieron Pollard scored 144 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 107.46. He took just 4 wickets in the entire season. Aakash Chopra said that this could be Pollard’s last season with MI (Mumbai Indians). The former Indian cricketer said in a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘I think we have seen Kieron Pollard’s last match. If they are not retained then Rs 6 crore will come in Mumbai’s purse.
Aakash Chopra also gave his opinion on Murugan Ashwin, Jaydev Unadkat and Tymal Mills. “I think they can let Murugan Ashwin (Rs 1.6 crore) go as well. I am not sure about Jaydev Unadkat (Rs 1.3 cr) but he can definitely say goodbye to Tymal Mills (Rs 1.5 cr).
Aakash Chopra said, ‘Kiron Pollard should go and Dewald Brevis should come. How many chances would you give to Pollard? He is not scoring runs yet. His bowling can be useful, but you will not pick him in the team for his bowling. So I think the time has come to say Tata bye-bye to Pollard.
