Virat Kohli’s poor form is a matter of concern for Team India and there is a lot of discussion about it at present. Some cricket experts are supporting Kohli and some are saying that if Ashwin has been dropped, then why is Kohli being preferred. His criticism has intensified after failing in the T20 series against England. He could only score 20 runs in 2 matches. Now former India wicketkeeper Syed Kirmani has suggested him to return to first-class cricket.
Former India wicketkeeper Syed Kirmani feels that if Virat does not find his rhythm soon, he should turn to domestic cricket. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to score some runs there and gain confidence. Former India fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad has also said this. Kirmani further said that there is no reason why the selectors can’t have a “hard conversation” with Kohli about his place in the team.
Kirmani said, “Obviously there is a lot of competition in this current era. If you don’t perform in a few innings, no matter how experienced you are, the selection committee takes a tough decision and says, ‘Bas done’. Go back to domestic cricket, get back in form and then we will see if we can fit you back into the Indian team. I don’t know why it can’t apply to Virat Kohli?
Meanwhile, former Kohli teammate and leg-spinner Amit Mishra asked fans to support Kohli. He said he needed it a lot. “We can say that he is not in form currently, but he has built such a reputation, has performed and won so many matches that it is important to support him,” he added.
Amit Mishra further said, “One, he is a match winner and has always done well in tough situations. Like young players, sometimes experienced players also need support. So keep faith in him and make sure he doesn’t lose confidence.”
