The Delhi High Court has issued notices to the Centre, Government of Uttar Pradesh, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and others. The High Court has issued this notice while hearing a public interest litigation. The PIL has sought a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) or Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) probe into the functioning of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) and appointment of a receiver (administrator) till “fair elections” are held.
This PIL has been filed on behalf of 15 cricket players. The plea has also sought appointment of an agency to audit the accounts of UPCA to find out “misuse of funds for personal gain by the Directors/UPCA and their accomplices”. It has been alleged in the petition that the office bearers of UPCA have been holding the same post for 15-20 years, contrary to the guidelines of the apex court and without conducting fair elections.
The petition states that UPCA Those responsible are doing their arbitrariness. The Memorandum and the recommendations of the Lodha Committee are being sidelined. Due to this the future of the cricket of the state is being buried. It is alleged that the present committee of UPCA is bent on arbitrariness by making its own rules.
According to the report of Dainik Bhaskar, a two-member bench of Delhi High Court Chief Justice DN Patel and Justice Nina Bansal Krishna has issued notice and directed to file the reply by March 25. The next date of hearing in the matter is April 29.
