Dependence on the Internet has increased rapidly during the Corona pandemic. Now many people are using internet banking to avoid overcrowding which is always a target of hackers. NordVPN has recently released a report which states that hackers can hack debit cards and credit cards in just 6 seconds. For this research, Global VPN Service Provider Company studied about 4 million payment cards in 140 countries and told that hackers use brute force method to hack the card. Let us tell you that this method hacks the payment card very quickly.
Marijus Breedis, Chief Technology Officer at NordVPN, said that in most cases, hackers use brute-forcing techniques to guess the CVV number of a payment card. He told that, a large number of transactions through the Internet give them convenience in this. Breedes explained that the first 6-8 numbers on a payment card are the card issuer’s ID number.
This gives hackers 7 to 9 numbers to guess because the 16th number is a checksum that is only used to determine if there was a mistake while entering the number. He said that in such cases, it takes 6 seconds to hack the payment card through the computer.
What to do for Debit, Credit card users for safety – According to Breedis, the card holder should check his/her monthly statement of account for suspicious activity and follow the guidelines issued by the bank. Apart from this, keep only that much money in the account of credit and debit cards as you need for expenses. Whereas online transactions should be done only on secure e-commerce website and shop.
