Recipe for making Panchamrit

The holy month of Sawan has started from 22nd July i.e. Monday. This year Sawan has started on the day of Mahadev i.e. Monday. Lord Shiva is specially worshipped in the month of Sawan. According to religious beliefs, worshipping Lord Shiva with a true heart in Sawan brings the desired boon. Girls have been observing the fast of Sawan Monday for years to get a desired groom. It is believed that by fasting on Monday in Sawan, Lord Shiva showers his blessings.

The Monday fast in Sawan cannot be complete without Panchamrit. Panchamrit is used to offer to the deities in the fast, worship of God. After the ritual, it is also eaten as prasad. But, when it comes to Bhole, he is also bathed with Panchamrit and is also offered as prasad. Ingredients to make Panchamrit:

1 cup milk, 1 cup makhana, some basil leaves, half cup curd, half cup ghee, 2 tablespoons honey, 2 tablespoons sugar

Easy way to make Panchamrit:

  • Step 1: To make Panchamrit, first turn on the gas and fry 1 cup makhana well in desi ghee. When the makhana turns brown, turn off the gas. Now, put the makhana in a grinder and grind it coarsely.

  • Step 2: Now in the next step, add 1 cup of milk, half a cup of curd and half a cup of ghee in a large bowl and mix them well. Now add roasted makhana and 2 tablespoons of honey to this mixture and mix it in the mixture as well.

  • Step 3: Now add sugar or jaggery to this mixture and beat them well. Your Panchamrit is ready. In the last step, add some basil leaves on top. You can keep Panchamrit in the refrigerator for 3 days. Now bathe the Shivling with this Panchamrit. Also offer it as Prasad.
