In such a situation, let us know from which special metal the medals to be given in the Olympic Games to be played in Paris this time are made.

What metal are these medals made of?

Both the Paris Olympic and Paralympic medals are cut in hexagon shapes and have a piece of the original iron from the Eiffel Tower embedded in them. These pieces are part of a collection that was removed during renovations and maintenance of the Eiffel Tower over the decades. Each piece has been restored to its original colour and mounted in the centre of the medal. Chaumet, the LVMH jewellery house, has designed this medal. The medal is hexagon shaped because its 6 points represent the map of France. Let us tell you that Olympic gold medals are not made of pure gold. They are actually made of 92.5 per cent silver and 1.34 per cent gold. As per the IOA guidelines, each gold medal should contain 6 grams of gold. Each gold medal in Paris will weigh 529 grams.

The ribbon of the medals will be special

Medal ribbons vary depending on the Olympics. The medal ribbons for the 2024 Olympics will be dark blue and decorated with lattice work like the Eiffel Tower. The Paralympic medals will be dark red. These medals are 85 millimeters wide and 9.2 millimeters thick. The Paris Mint is making 5,084 medals. Of these, about 2,600 are for the Olympics and 2,400 for the Paralympics. In such a situation, it is estimated that a total of 10,500 athletes will participate in it.
