He wanted to cast Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in this film. He wanted to present Amitabh as Akbar, Jaya as Jodha Bai, Abhishek Bachchan as Salim and Aishwarya as Anarkali.

Mehul also revealed that the producer had also approached Amitabh Bachchan for this film. But Big B said that he should first talk to me i.e. Mehul Kumar. At that time I had explained to him that ‘No other film in the industry can replace Mughal-e-Azam.
