Although the rains may have decreased in the capital Patna this year, there has been no decrease in the ferocity of dengue mosquitoes. More than 09 infected people have been found in the district in July itself. Its patients have been found in five out of six zones of Patna. Kankarbagh and Bankipur are the most infected areas. Patients are being found continuously in these areas. On Wednesday, six new dengue patients were found in Patna. Of these, three were found in Kankarbagh, one each in Bhikhna Pahadi and Mahendru of Bankipur and one in Pataliputra zone. Patients from Bankipur zone are being treated in PMCH. Now the total number of dengue patients in Patna has increased to 24.

ASHA workers will search for dengue larvae
Realizing the gravity of the situation, the health department has trained ASHA workers to identify larvae of dengue mosquitoes in high-risk zones of urban areas. They will visit every house in the hot-spot localities and inspect the places where dengue larvae are suspected to be breeding. Many areas of the city are in the high-risk zone for dengue. 62 ASHA workers were trained at the district malaria office to identify larvae of dengue mosquitoes. Additional Director cum State Program Officer, Bacterial Disease Control Program, Dr. Ashok Kumar said that even a little stagnant water is enough for the dengue mosquito to breed. After the training, ASHA workers will identify larvae in stagnant water and inform the office.

Arrangements in hospital for dengue patients
Dr. Ashok Kumar said that 50 beds have been reserved for dengue patients in the medical college, 20 in the district hospital and two in the block level hospital. Rapid testing of passengers coming from outside the state will also be done. Anti-larvae is sprayed within 500 meters of the dengue patient’s house. He further said that 199 dengue patients have been identified in the state from January to June this year.

There is a risk of dengue in these areas
District Vector Born Disease Control Officer Dr. Subhash Chandra Prasad said that as soon as symptoms of dengue appear, patients should contact the nearest government health institution. Dr. Prasad said that dengue patients are being found continuously in the waterlogging affected area of ​​Kankarbagh. This time Kankarbagh and Bankipur areas are among the most sensitive areas in terms of dengue. In collaboration with Patna Municipal Corporation, anti-larva spraying and fogging is being done continuously in the affected area. He has appealed to the people not to allow waterlogging around them and to install anti-mosquito repellent in the house.
