New Delhi. Heavy rain in Delhi’s Old Rajendra Nagar area on Saturday evening took three lives. Due to the rain, the basement of a famous coaching center named ‘Rao IAS’ got flooded. Two girl students and one boy student died in this accident. This coaching center prepares students for the civil service exam. According to the information received, there was a library in the basement of the coaching center, where these three students were studying. Meanwhile, water started filling there very fast, due to which these people could not get out in time and they died there.
In such a situation, the question arises that torrential rain occurred in the entire area. But why did this flash flood occur in the basement of this coaching center, while other coaching centers nearby remained completely dry. When the team of AnyTV India went to the spot and tried to find the reason behind this accident, many types of flaws and negligence were exposed here.
What was the reason for water filling in the coaching centre?
It is being told that there is a drainage pipe right next to the coaching centre. It is suspected that this pipe burst, which caused a flash flood in the basement of the coaching centre. During this, the water filled in the basement so fast that these 3 students could not come out in time and got stuck there and died. At the same time, the police officer said that an attempt was made to save the students through ropes, but due to water filling in the coaching centre, the furniture kept there started floating and this caused a lot of difficulty in the rescue operation.
Durgesh Pathak, Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Rajendra Nagar, also reached the spot as soon as he got the news of this tragic incident. Talking to the media, he said, ‘This is a low line area. Waterlogging happens for 10-15 minutes, then it goes away. There is no water in the basement around it (coaching center), there is water only in this basement. There has been some damage, but this is a matter of investigation. It is a very unfortunate incident. There should be a full investigation and action on this.’
On the other hand, Delhi Mayor Shaili Oberoi was also present at the spot. She said, ‘As soon as we got information about the incident, we reached the spot. NDRF and fire are working. It is being said that some drainage or pipe has burst here, due to which a flash flood occurred and due to which the students got stuck here.’
Atishi, a minister in the Delhi government, has directed Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar to start an investigation into the incident and submit a report within 24 hours. In a post on ‘X’, Atishi said, ‘A magisterial inquiry has been ordered to investigate how this incident happened. Whoever is responsible for this incident will not be spared.’
BJP demands resignation of Atishi Marlena-Durgesh Pathak
BJP’s Delhi unit president Virendra Sachdeva and New Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj also visited the spot and blamed the Aam Aadmi Party government for the incident. They said that the people living nearby had repeatedly appealed to the AAP MLA to clean the drains, but it was ignored.
Bansuri Swaraj said, ‘For the last one week, the local people were demanding AAP MLA Durgesh Pathak to get the drain cleaned. But Durgesh Pathak did not listen to them. Arvind Kejriwal, Durgesh Pathak and the Aam Aadmi Party government are completely responsible for this incident.’
On the other hand, Virendra Sachdeva said, ‘The criminal negligence of the Delhi government is responsible for this accident. Water Board Minister Atishi and local MLA Durgesh Pathak should take responsibility and resign from their posts.’
