According to the information, two people were arrested in Morigaon district of Assam on Wednesday and heroin worth more than Rs 1.57 crore was seized from their possession. Police has given information about this. The police officer said that acting on a secret information, a police team conducted a search operation in Barchal village and seized 875 grams of narcotics from a house. In Assam, such action has been taken from time to time by the local police and paramilitary forces. Action has been taken against smugglers by the local administration on secret information.

Heroin in 77 soap boxes
The smugglers found a new way to smuggle heroin. Police said that the heroin was brought from Dimapur in Nagaland to Morigaon by hiding it in 77 soap boxes. It is suspected that this consignment of heroin was to be sent to other parts of the country. Before the consignment of heroin could be disposed of, the police got a tip-off and the consignment of drugs was seized in time. Police have arrested both the accused and registered a case against them. At present, they are being interrogated so that the bottom of this racket can be reached.

Major action was taken in Barpeta
Before Morigaon, the police had taken a big action in Barpeta, Assam. On July 14, the police had informed about the seizure of heroin worth about Rs 2.5 crore. This consignment of heroin was to be sent somewhere else via train. The police had received information that the smugglers were planning to take the consignment of heroin to the lower region of the state via Awadh Assam Express. Before the smugglers could succeed in their plans, the police caught them.
