Indian Team Tour Of Sri Lanka: The Indian team has to play a series of three ODIs and three T20 matches on the Sri Lanka tour. Team India has already been announced for this. Rohit Sharma is the captain of Team India in ODIs. Suryakumar Yadav has been given the command of the T20 team. Shubman Gill has been made the vice-captain of both ODI and T20 formats. Gautam Gambhir, the head coach of the team, will take charge from this tour itself. Now the news of two veterans joining the coaching staff on the Sri Lanka tour has come to light.
He is part of the coaching set up of KKR
According to a report by ESPNcricinfo, former India player Abhishek Nair and former Netherlands all-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate could be the assistant coaches of the Indian team for the Sri Lanka tour. Both these former players are also part of the coaching set up of the Kolkata Knight Riders franchise in the IPL and have worked with the new head coach of the Indian team.
He has been the head coach of Trinbago Knight Riders in CPL
40-year-old Abhishek Nair has played only three ODIs for India. He has played more than 100 matches in first class cricket and played an important role in helping the Mumbai team win several Ranji Trophy titles in domestic cricket. He has been more successful as a coach than a player. Nair has also served as the head coach of Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Varun Chakraborty of the KKR team that won the IPL 2024 title has praised Abhishek Nair.
Ryan Ten Doeschate is currently the assistant coach of Los Angeles Knight Riders in the Major League Cricket being played in America. He has also been the batting coach of the Netherlands. He has played 33 ODIs and 24 T20 Internationals for the Netherlands. He has experience which can be useful for the Indian team.
