The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) wants to forge an alliance with the Nationalist Congress Party and the Congress, which is part of the Maharashtra government. AIMIM MP Imtiaz has claimed this. At the same time, he also said that the party is not the ‘B team’ of the BJP. The Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM could not win a single seat in the recently concluded five-state assembly elections.
According to media reports, on Friday, Jaleel told that after the death of his mother, NCP leader Rajesh Tope had come to his house. The AIMIM leader said, “It is always alleged that BJP wins because of us. To prove this allegation wrong, I have proposed to Tope that we are ready for an alliance. However, he did not say anything about my offer. Jalil is also the head of the Maharashtra unit of AIMIM.
He said that now we want to see whether these are allegations against AIMIM or they are ready to join hands with us. “The thing is, these parties want the votes of Muslims. Why only NCP, Congress has also said that they are secular and they also want the votes of Muslims. We are ready to join hands with them as well. BJP has completely ruined the country. We are ready to do anything to defeat them.
He told that AIMIM had also talked to Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party in Uttar Pradesh elections. The MP said that he wanted the votes of Muslims, but not Asaduddin Owaisi. He said, “In Maharashtra also these parties (Congress and NCP) want votes of Muslims, but not AIMIM. You hold us responsible for BJP’s victory. So I propose that let us fight the elections together.
The AIMIM MP was asked whether the alliance proposal was limited to the Aurangabad Municipal Corporation elections or not. On this, he said that it depends on the reactions received from the NCP and Congress. He said, ‘No, we will go alone. We are giving them a chance because they call us B team.
