Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said that people should wear masks in public places as long as he and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar are wearing masks even though the restrictions are over. The state government had announced two days ago to end all other restrictions related to COVID, including the mandatory wearing of masks, from April 2.
While inaugurating a new metro line in the city, Thackeray said that wearing of masks is no longer mandatory, but it does not mean that we can now ignore the precautions to be taken to prevent the virus. The Chief Minister inaugurated Metro Line-7 and 2A on Saturday.
On this occasion, Thackeray said, ‘I saw that most of the people are not wearing masks. There are only two people in the state – me and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar – who are constantly wearing masks since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Suggesting people to continue wearing masks in public places, Thackeray said that only through precautions can the risk of the next wave of the pandemic be avoided.
