Bhim Army founder and Azad Samaj Party chief Chandrashekhar Chandrashekhar Azad has lost the election from Gorakhpur Sadar seat. Chandrashekhar Ravan, who came to challenge CM Yogi Adityanath, stood at number four and could not even save the bail. Apart from CM Yogi Adityanath, candidates of SP and BSP were ahead of Chandrashekhar Azad alias Ravana. CM Yogi Adityanath got 1.64 lakh votes and won against Subhavati Shukla by more than one lakh votes.
Chandrashekhar Azad, a bitter critic of BJP and CM Yogi Adityanath, got a total of 7,543 votes and his security deposit was forfeited. Azad on Thursday accepted the verdict of the people and thanked his workers for their hard work. He said that the Azad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram), which was formed just a year ago, will run the movement at the grassroots level and strengthen the opposition in UP. He said that his party would fight for social change and equality.
Chandrashekhar Azad tweeted, “We accept the mandate that came today and thank the Bahujan Samaj that for the first time due to your hard work, our party was introduced to the general public in the assembly elections. Now we have to bring Bahujan Samaj to power. Therefore, we have to take forward the ideology of the great men and women born in Bahujan society, Bahujan Hitay and Bahujan Sukhay. For this, there is a movement at the grassroots level to strengthen the organization. I appeal to all of you friends that you should be ready for the ground struggle, our fight will continue for social and power change, thank you. Regards Jai Bhim.
No one had any doubt on the victory of Yogi Adityanath in Gorakhpur urban seat. Adityanath has been a five-time Lok Sabha MP from here. It is also the headquarters of the Gorakhnath Math, which is headed by Adityanath. This seat has been with the BJP since 1989. In 2022, the allies had won here. That is why he would not win here, Azad also knew very well. However, eyes were definitely on how many votes he gets. Like CM Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav, this was also the first assembly election of Chandrashekhar.
