Taking money in the name of construction of Delhi-Dehradun Expressway, the construction agency put it in another project. Even after a lapse of a year, even 10 works of the expressway could not be completed.
It is believed that the company will be blacklisted by the end of March. Also the bank guarantee can be forfeited. NHAI has issued a notice to the company asking why the tender should not be cancelled. Although the company has started work in some parts after pressure, but NHAI feels that it is difficult to complete the project on time. Meanwhile, brainstorming has started on the process of appointing another construction agency. The first attempt would be to give a chance to the rest of the companies in the tender process. If consensus is not reached, fresh tender will be done.
Work stalled as soon as the first installment of 65 crores was released
In January 2020, a work order of 1350 crores was issued to a private company for the construction of the road in the second phase of the expressway. The company also started construction from Loni Border to Baghpat (Eastern Peripheral Expressway). NHAI released the first installment of Rs 65 crore, but did not act after that. After about a year, NHAI did a thorough investigation and it was found that the company had withdrawn Rs 65 crore from the concerned account for its other projects.
