India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test Day 1 Stumps: The second and final match of the two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka is being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. A total of 16 wickets fell on the very first day of the match. India has tightened its grip on Sri Lanka on this pitch, which has become a graveyard for the batsmen. The Indian team scored 252 runs in the first innings in this Day-Night Test match (Pink Ball Test) and then pushed Sri Lanka on the back foot on the first day by taking 6 wickets for 86 runs till the stumps on Saturday.
Sri Lanka are now 166 runs behind India’s score with only 4 wickets remaining. Niroshan Dikwella is unbeaten on 13 at stumps while Lasith Embuldeniya is yet to open his account. Angelo Mathews scored 43, Kusal Mendis scored 2, Captain Dimuth Karunaratna scored 4, Lahiru Thirimanne scored 8, Dhananjay de Silva scored 10 and Charith Aslanka scored 5. For India, Jasprit Bumrah’s account has so far taken three wickets, Mohammad’s two and Axar Patel’s one wicket has come.

India won the toss and elected to bat, but lost four wickets at 93 in 29 overs till tea time due to the top order batting being a flop. Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli and Hanuma Vihari, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel, including skipper Rohit Sharma, all struggled against the Sri Lankan spinners. Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayavakrima took three wickets each, while Dhananjay de Silva took two and Suranga Lakmal took one wicket.
India’s first wicket fell on the score of 10 in the form of Mayank. Mayank was run out and had to return to the pavilion on the score of just four. After that Rohit lost his wicket at the score of 29. He fell victim to left arm spinner Lasit Embuldeniya and was dismissed after scoring 15 runs. Then though Vihari and Virat tried to form a partnership as in the previous match, but another left arm spinner Praveen Jayavakrima broke the partnership by dismissing Vihari for 76. After this, part-time spinner Dhananjay De’Salva got Virat out leg before on the score of 86. Virat scored 23 runs in 48 balls with the help of two fours, while Vihari was dismissed after scoring 31 runs in 81 balls with the help of four fours.
Meanwhile, Pant and Iyer tried to get the team out of trouble. There was a 40-run partnership for the fifth wicket between the two that Pant lost his wicket at the score of 126 due to playing aggressive shots. Embuldeniya bowled him. After this, India’s wickets kept falling continuously. Sixth as Jadeja on the score of 148, seventh as Ashwin on the score of 183, the eighth as Akshar on the score of 215, the ninth as Mohammed Shami on the score of 229 and the 10th as Iyer on the score of 252 And lost the last wicket. The Indian innings was also settled as soon as Iyer was dismissed.
