Tomorrow ie Thursday, India’s evacuation operation in Ukraine will end. To rescue Indians trapped in war-torn Ukraine, the Indian government had launched Operation Ganga, under which Indian citizens stranded there by special flights have been brought back.
According to the report of NDTV, the process of starting the return of government teams from Ukraine will start soon and the last flights under Operation Ganga will be operated by tomorrow evening.
Since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in February, the government has evacuated about 18,000 Indian citizens, most of them students. The last batch of about 700 students stranded in Sumy is en route to western Ukraine. After their arrival, one last flight will fly to India.
The number of Indians airlifted by 75 special civilian flights is 15,521. In addition, the Indian Air Force had carried out 12 flights to bring back 2,467 passengers and over 32 tonnes of relief material as part of Operation Ganga. In civilian flights, Bucharest carried 4,575 passengers by 21 flights, Suseva 1,820 passengers by 9 flights, Budapest 5,571 passengers by 28 flights, 909 passengers by 5 flights from Koसिसice, 2,404 Indians by 11 flights from Rzejo and Kyiv. 242 persons have been brought in one flight.
