Two laborers died of suffocation while cleaning a water tank in a residential colony in Naupada, Maharashtra. Two other laborers have been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Thane Municipal Corporation said that the police have registered an ADR and investigation is on in the matter.
At the same time, four laborers who had descended for cleaning in the factory tank in Bikaner’s Karni industrial area in Rajasthan died of suffocation on Sunday. In the Karni industrial area, four laborers had descended to clean a septic tank built in a wool mill. During this, four laborers fainted, out of which three died on the spot, while one worker died in the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as Lal Chand, Chorulal Nayak, Kalu Ram Valmiki and Kishan Bihari. The police official said that prima facie the accident was suspected to be due to leakage of carbon dioxide gas due to filth in the septic tank. After getting information about this incident, district administration and police officials reached the spot and inquired about the entire incident.
