The principal of a law college in Virar, Maharashtra has resigned alleging that the college management misbehaved with her for wearing a hijab. After the principal’s claim, Virar police reached the law campus of VV College and inquired with the management.
Baitul Hameed, who was the principal of the Law College, said that she used to feel uncomfortable here. “I have resigned to save my self-respect and culture,” he said. At the same time, the college management says that many students of Dawoodi Bohra community also study in their college and they also wear hijab but they never faced any problem.
Hameed had joined the college in July 2019. He said, in three years there has never been a problem with the hijab but ever since this controversy started, the management also started misbehaving. The principal said, I used to face difficulty in lifting the bag due to physical problem but they would not even allow the peon to lift the bag.
Few days back some students of Dawoodi Bohra community had come to me and were getting information about admission. After this the management started alleging that I am working to increase my people in the campus.
