Trinamool Congress MP and party’s national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee has once again targeted the BJP. Abhishek Banerjee on Sunday said that the BJP government at the Center is using the ED and CBI for its political interests, which is yet to accept the defeat in the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections.
Sources said on Sunday Banerjee and his wife Rujira left for Delhi to appear before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for questioning in connection with the probe into the money laundering case related to the coal scam in West Bengal. Abhishek Banerjee, who arrived at Kolkata airport, said ‘As I said in a public meeting in November 2020, if anyone can prove that I have embezzled even 10 paise, then I will walk on stage and make myself public. I will hang myself. There is no need to put ED and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) behind me.
He further said that BJP is using CBI and ED for its own interest. Banerjee, the nephew of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, claimed that the BJP was unable to accept her shameless defeat and reprimand for money and muscle power in the assembly elections. Without naming anyone, Banerjee also alleged that the central agencies never took any action against a person who was seen carrying bundles of notes wrapped in a towel and is now a top BJP leader in the state.
This is the reason why the impartiality of central agencies comes into question. Diamond Harbor MP Abhishek Banerjee took an oath and said that I have been summoned by ED yesterday. And I believe in the judicial system. We (TMC) will not surrender.
