Former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who left the Congress in Punjab, has lost the election. Amarinder Singh, who left the Congress, which is called a sinking boat, has not been able to save even his own boat. This time in the Punjab Assembly elections, Captain Amarinder Singh was in the fray from Patiala Urban seat. Aam Aadmi Party candidate Ajit Patel Singh Kohli has got a bumper victory in Patiala in front of Amarinder.
Capt Amarinder had resigned from the Congress last year, just before the assembly elections, due to differences with Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu. Captain Amarinder Singh sent his resignation letter to party president Sonia Gandhi after showing a rebellious attitude against the Congress for nearly a month. Amarinder had resigned as the Chief Minister of Punjab in September after a political struggle. After which the Congress party made Charanjit Singh Channi the Chief Minister of Punjab.
After leaving the Congress, Captain Amarinder Singh announced a new party named ‘Punjab Lok Congress’. After this Amarinder Singh joined hands with BJP. In the state, BJP also got the support of Shiromani Akali Dal (United) of Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa. If the trends are to be believed, then the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is going to do a clean sweep in Punjab. In Punjab, this time it has been decided to tie the head of Bhagwant Mann to the chief minister’s post.
In the trends so far, out of 117 seats in the state, the ruling party Congress is leading on only 17. While Aam Aadmi Party is leading in 91 seats. At the same time, Akali Dal is leading in other 6 seats. It is clear from the trends that have come so far that the Congress is going away from power in Punjab and the Aam Aadmi Party is going to form the government.
