As the Gujarat Assembly elections are approaching, discontent in the Congress party is continuously coming to the fore. Party’s state president Hardik Patel has already shown his rebellious attitude towards the party. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, the Congress party suffered another setback in Gujarat. Three-time MLA and tribal leader Ashwin Kotwal joined BJP. It is believed that he was upset over the election of another tribal leader Sukhram Rathwa as the opposition leader. He had stopped coming to the Congress office for more than a month.
Before the assembly elections in Gujarat, the concerns of the Congress party are not being named. Tribal leader of Congress Ashwini Kotwal left Congress and joined BJP. Ashwini Kotwal has represented the Legislative Assembly thrice. His departure is a big setback for the Congress. Addressing a press conference, Kotwal said he was unhappy with the way the Congress worked, especially in tribal areas.
Kotwal, an MLA from Khedbrahma in North Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district, submitted his resignation to the Gujarat Assembly Speaker on Tuesday afternoon before joining the BJP in the presence of Gujarat BJP chief C R Patil at the party headquarters ‘Kamalam’ in Gandhinagar. Kotwal said, “Prime Minister pic.twitter.com/MTUrPcR1VY

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had met me in 2007 as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and shared his resolve to have a pucca house for every tribal in the state. Today, as the Prime Minister of the country, he is working tirelessly for the upliftment of the tribal community.
Significantly, Kotwal, whose resignation comes nearly seven months ahead of the December Assembly elections, joins the long list of over a dozen Congress MLAs who have joined the BJP after the 2017 assembly polls. In the 2017 elections, the Congress had won 77 seats and the BJP had won 99 seats.
