Keshav Prasad Maurya, SP candidate, who is trying bet on BJP ticket in UP’s VIP seat Sirathu, is being told behind by six thousand votes in the initial trends. According to the information received from the commission, Pallavi of SP has got 10626 votes so far. Concern has increased in the BJP after Sirathu assembly was behind Keshav Maurya. However, a tough fight is still going on between the two candidates. Talking about vote percentage, BJP has got 40 percent and SP has got 51 percent votes so far. The results will be out by evening.

SP won in 2014
The Samajwadi Party was able to win the Sirathu seat only in the 2014 by-election. The by-election took place after Keshav Prasad Maurya resigned from Sirathu’s MLA post after being elected MP from Phulpur. From 1993 to 2007, Sirathu seat was reserved for Scheduled Castes. During that time only BSP candidates had won from this seat. Keshav Prasad Maurya won on a BJP ticket after the seat was from the general category in the year 2012 and entered the assembly for the first time.

It is said that about 34 percent of the backward class voters are in this area. The total number of voters is 3,80,839. Of these, 19 per cent voters fall in the general category. About 33 per cent Dalit and 13 per cent Muslim voters are said to be in the area.
