Statues of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh and Constitution maker Bhimrao Ambedkar will be installed in the Punjab Legislative Assembly. Apart from this, there will also be a government holiday on the sacrifice day of Bhagat Singh. The new Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann made this announcement in the Vidhan Sabha on Tuesday. He introduced this motion in the House, which has been approved. Apart from this, the CM has also announced a holiday on 23 March, the sacrifice day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. This decision will be applicable from this 23 March i.e. Wednesday will be a government holiday in Punjab to commemorate it.
During this, Congress MLA Pratap Bajwa proposed to install a statue of Maharana Ranjit Singh in the assembly. The Maharaja is considered the architect of modern Punjab. His statue has also been installed in Lahore, Pakistan. Earlier, Bhagwant Mann had announced that he would also launch an anti-corruption helpline on March 23. Through this, any person will complain of bribery or any kind of corruption on their number on WhatsApp. Describing this decision as historic, Bhagwant Mann had said that till date no such decision had been taken in the history of Punjab.
Not only this, Bhagwant Mann also took oath as CM in Khatkar Kalan, the native village of martyr revolutionary Bhagat Singh. Aam Aadmi Party has been continuously talking about Bhagat Singh and Bhimrao Ambedkar in Punjab. It is believed that he is trying to woo the Dalit community by referring to Bhimrao Ambedkar, while Bhagat Singh is known as a symbol of nationalism and Punjabiyat. Significantly, the Punjab government has announced that the Chief Minister’s photographs will not be displayed in government offices. Pictures of Bhagat Singh and Bhimrao Ambedkar will be installed in their place.
