Relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan are getting worse. The rift between Afghanistan and Pakistan has started growing due to the Taliban’s support to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and rising tensions along the Durand Line.
Foreign Minister of Afghan Taliban did not come to OIC
ANI quoted European Times as saying that the absence of Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaki at the recently concluded Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) meeting confirms that the relations between the two countries are not smooth. Let us inform that in the OIC meeting held in Islamabad, the Afghan Taliban had sent a foreign ministry official in exchange for Muttaki.
Tension is increasing continuously on Durand Line
It has been told in the report that in recent days tension between the two sides is increasing continuously at many places along the border in Chaman and Spin Boldak districts. The Taliban have reportedly deployed their cannons against Pakistan in the areas of Asmar and Nari in Kunar province. The Taliban does not recognize the British-era Durand Line as the official border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Taliban supporting TTP
Another major reason for the deteriorating relations is the support of the TTP by the Afghan Taliban. Two days ago, 2 Pakistani soldiers were killed in clashes with TTP in Khyber Pakhtoonwala. Since the capture of Kabul by the Taliban in August last year, Pakistan has seen a huge increase in the number of terrorist incidents. According to the Islamabad-based Pak Institute for Peace Studies, there has been a 42 percent increase in terrorist incidents in 2021 compared to the previous year, with most of the terrorist incidents in the days after the Taliban occupation of Kabul.
