The hard work of women is paying off in the Naxal-affected area of Dantewada. NITI Aayog has praised the efforts of local women regarding the food products made from forest produce in the area. Let us inform that women in the district are making laddus, tea, jam, jelly and cookies from Mahua under the banner of ‘Bastar Food Firm’.
NITI Aayog made two separate tweets praising women. NITI Aayog wrote from its official Twitter handle, ‘Do you know, in Akanakshi district Dantewada, Mahua is an integral part of the tribal economy? Mahua is a sweet flower full of nutritional and medicinal properties.
In another tweet, NITI Aayog wrote, ‘Women of Dantewada district are making people aware about the health benefits of food products found in forests. The products of the forest have helped in creating livelihood opportunities for the tribal communities and empowered women to become self-reliant.
