The results of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections are now completely clear. Yogi Adityanath, who entered the campaign by making a bulldozer as a weapon, has demolished the building of hope. Till 3:15 pm, BJP was ahead in 261 seats while SP was leading in 135 seats.
Samajwadi Party may not be able to fulfill its claim of forming the government, but Akhilesh Yadav has definitely improved the party’s performance. The SP has increased its seats by almost three times. Apart from this, the voter share of the party has also increased by more than 10 per cent.
The only party to increase seats
Despite the defeat of UP, there are some figures in favor of SP from which the party can feel satisfied. SP is the only party whose seats have increased. The BJP may have got a majority, but it has suffered a big loss in terms of seats. In the 2017 assembly elections, the NDA had got 325 seats. This time the saffron alliance may remain around 260 seats.
BSP and Congress seats also decreased
Mayawati-led BSP has also suffered a big loss in this election. Where Mayawati got 19 seats in the 2017 assembly elections, this time the party has come in single digits. Currently leading in only 2 seats. Congress, which won 7 seats in alliance with SP, is also seen to be reduced to 3 seats.
