On Monday, the process of administering oath to the MLAs started in the assembly, which will be completed by Tuesday. First Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took oath as MLA and then the Leader of Opposition Akhilesh Yadav took oath.
This is the first time that both these leaders have taken the membership of the Legislative Assembly. As soon as CM Yogi came for the oath, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLAs present in the house raised slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Jai Shri Ram. After this, when Akhilesh’s turn came, the SP MLAs raised slogans of Jai Samajwad and Jai Jawan Jai Kisan. Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav also met during the swearing-in.

After taking oath, Akhilesh Yadav also shook hands with Deputy CM Keshav Maurya. CM Yogi has won from Gorakhpur and Akhilesh Yadav has won from Karhal assembly seat. Both the leaders have become members of the Legislative Assembly for the first time. During the previous government, where Yogi Adityanath was a member of the Legislative Council, Akhilesh Yadav was an MP from Azamgarh. After being elected as MLA, Akhilesh left the MP.
