The bag of Kheri district, which gave eight consecutive seats in the two elections of the UP assembly, remained empty this time too. No MLA of the district has been made a minister. Due to this, there was despair in the political corridors of the district. In Kheri district, the BJP continued to create records for two consecutive assembly elections. In 2017 election also BJP won all eight seats and this time in 2022 elections also. Despite this, the stature of the district could not increase in Lucknow.
This time, BJP had won many seats after a close contest. After two consecutive clean sweeps, this time there were hopes. This time many names were running in the race for the post of minister. Among them, the name of fifth time MLA Arvind Giri was in the forefront. Four days ago, the alleged list of possible ministers started doing the rounds on social media. His name was there too. However, BJP leaders had called that list wrong.
Meanwhile, on Friday morning, the name of Kasta MLA Saurabh Singh Sonu started running. However, that discussion also turned out to be baseless. The names of Shashank Verma and Mohammadi MLA Lokendra Pratap Singh, who won the most votes in Nighasan, were also in the news. But the district was disappointed this time too. There was constant discussion on social media due to not getting any ministerial post.
People said that BJP got eight assembly and one MLC from Kheri, yet no one could be made a minister. Senior BJP leaders say that both the MPs of the district have bigger responsibilities than before. Kheri MP Ajay Mishra Teni is the Minister of State for Home. Dhaurahra MP Rekha Verma is the National Vice President and in-charge of Uttarakhand. In such a situation, it is not possible to get all the posts in Kheri district.
No cabinet minister after Ramkumar Verma
Kheri district could not get any cabinet minister after Ramkumar Verma. Ramkumar Verma also became an MLA in the government of Chief Minister Kalyan Singh in 1991 and was made the Minister of Public Works. After winning the 1993 elections, Ramkumar Verma also had the responsibility of Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Public Works. Then after winning in 1997, he was made the Minister of Cooperation. However, in the year 2002, Vanshidhar Raj was made the Minister of State for Transport in the SP government. Yashpal Chaudhary has been the Minister of State for Minor Irrigation in 2002 itself.
