Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said the ‘nexus’ between the steel and cement industries is a big problem for the development of the country and its infrastructure. These two sectors, which are important for infrastructure development, have very few companies and work in a nexus. Addressing ICERP 2025 here, he said that steel and cement industries are in the hands of a few people. They always fix the rates. The nexus between them is a big problem for the country. The Union Minister said that fibre-reinforced plastic (FRP) can become a good option to break the hold of steel and cement companies.

offer every possible help

He offered all possible help for this. That said, I have a strong interest in supporting you in creating alternative content. Gadkari urged FRP companies to reduce their prices so that the final cost is 20-25 per cent lower than other established options. The minister said FRP can be used in many sectors like infrastructure, aviation, shipping, road construction and metro rail. He told the FRP industry participants that if you can reduce the rate by 20-25 per cent compared to steel, it can be a really good thing for the country.

Proposed ‘water taxi’

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has proposed 10,000 water taxis to transport people from remote suburbs of Mumbai to Navi Mumbai International Airport. Gadkari suggested that he had already discussed the proposal with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The Union minister said ‘water taxis’ can transport people from suburbs like Virar along the Arabian Sea in the north of the financial capital and Kalyan-Dombivli in the northeast along Thane Creek to the new airport in 70 minutes. . “Water taxis from all parts of Mumbai, from Vasai-Virar to Kalyan-Dombivli, can connect to the new airport in 70 minutes,” he said. I have already discussed this proposal with the Chief Minister. We need 10,000 water taxis in Mumbai.

Passenger flights from the new airport are scheduled to start from April next year. To facilitate the movement of passengers, work is underway to connect the new airport with metro rail.
