Why is Kargil Day celebrated on 26th?
Brigadier (Retired) Khushal Thakur was a part of the Kargil war. He was a colonel in the 18 Grenadiers at the time of the war. Let us tell you that it was the 18 Grenadiers who captured Kargil’s important peak Tiger Hill. Khushal Thakur told that after the victory of Tiger Hill, Nawaz Sharif went to America in fear and started talking about ceasefire, but the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee said – “There is no stopping until we drive out these Pakistanis from every border post” and then on 26 July all the intruders were driven out. This is the reason why Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated on 26 July.
Narendra Modi had reached Kargil in the middle of the war
Along with this, Khushal Thakur has also revealed another interesting information about PM Modi. He told that the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi was neither the Chief Minister nor was he on any other important post at that time. He had come to Kargil in a normal way to boost the morale of the soldiers amidst so much firing and he had also visited the soldiers in the hospital.
