New Delhi. Shefali Verma once again played a stormy innings. This time her explosion was against Nepal. The occasion was the Women’s Asia Cup. It was a do or die match for Nepal and they entered the field with great expectations. But from the very first over of the match, Shefali showed her fierce form, due to which Sri Lanka’s hopes were shattered. However, 20-year-old Shefali was a bit unlucky and got out just after scoring a century. She scored 81 runs. This is her highest score in T20 International.

Two matches were played in the Women’s Asia Cup on Tuesday. In the first match, Pakistan defeated UAE by 10 wickets. After this, the match between India and Nepal was played. Batting first in this match, India scored a huge score of 178 runs for 3 wickets. Shefali Verma scored the highest 81 runs for India. This is her highest score in T20 International. However, she must have regretted that she missed out on scoring her first T20 International century.

For India, openers Shefali Verma and D. Hemalatha made a wonderful partnership of 122 runs. This partnership broke in the 14th over when D. Hemalatha was out after scoring 47 runs. She hit 5 fours and a six in her 42-ball innings. Hemalatha came to open the innings in place of Smriti Mandhana, who is captaining in this match.

D. Hemalatha may have missed her half-century, but Shefali Verma did not miss this opportunity. She completed her fifty in 26 balls. Shefali continued to play at the same pace as she was batting in the powerplay till she was on the crease. When it seemed that Shefali would score a century, she made a mistake. In the 16th over, she tried to hit the fourth ball of Sita Rana Magar by moving forward but missed. Wicketkeeper Kajal Shrestha immediately stumped Shefali out. In this way, Shefali’s innings ended at 81 runs. She hit 12 fours and a six in her 48-ball innings.
