Women's Asia Cup: Pakistan won by 10 wickets, semi-final is still difficult... praying for India's victory

New Delhi. Pakistan has recovered from the defeat against India and has won two consecutive matches in the Women’s Asia Cup. The Pakistani women’s cricket team defeated UAE by 10 wickets on Tuesday. With this victory, it has strengthened its hopes of playing in the semi-finals. However, its place in the semi-finals is not confirmed yet.

India, Pakistan, Nepal and United Arab Emirates are in Group A of the Women’s Asia Cup being played in Sri Lanka. Pakistan and UAE teams have played all their three matches in this group. India and Nepal are yet to play a match. Currently, India and Pakistan have 4 points each in the group and both these teams are at the first and second position. Nepal is at the third position with 2 points. UAE could not even open its account in the tournament.

Pakistan’s team may be at second place in the group right now but its place in the semi-finals is not certain. It will play the semi-finals only if the Indian team defeats Nepal. If Nepal makes an upset and registers a big win then Pakistan’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals will be dashed.

The match between Pakistan and UAE was played in Dambulla on Tuesday. UAE team batted first and scored 120 runs for 8 wickets. Tirtha Satish scored the highest 40 runs from their side. Sadia Iqbal, Tuba Hasan and Nashra Sandhu took two wickets each for Pakistan.

Gul Ferozah and Muniba Ali batted brilliantly for Pakistan while chasing the target. Both Pakistani openers scored the required runs for victory without losing any wicket. Gul Feroz remained unbeaten after scoring 62 runs off 55 balls. Muniba Ali played an unbeaten innings of 37 runs off 30 balls. Thanks to these two, Pakistan won the match by scoring 107 runs in just 14.1 overs.
