Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s ancestral house in Sirajganj district of Bangladesh was attacked and vandalized. Officials have constituted a three -member committee to investigate the incident. This information was received from media reports.
A visitor went to Kachhribari located in Sirajganj district with his family on June 8. Kachhribari is also known as Ravindra Kachhribari or Ravindra Memorial Museum.
In the news of ‘Bedinues.com’, it was said that he had a dispute with an employee at the entrance for motorcycle parking fee there. The visitor was then allegedly locked in an office room and assaulted him.
Locals, who were agitated by the incident, staged a protest by forming a human chain on Tuesday. Later, the mob attacked and vandalized the auditorium of Kachhibari and beat up a director of the institute.
The BSS news agency said that after the incident, the Archaeological Department has constituted a three -member inquiry committee to investigate the attack. Mohammad Habibur Rahman, the patron of Kachhribari, told reporters that the authority has temporarily suspended the entry of visitors to Kachhribari due to ‘unavoidable circumstances’.
The BSS quoted Rahman as saying that the inquiry committee has been asked to submit the report within the next five working day.
The Rajshahi Division has an ancestral home and revenue office of the Kachhribari Tagore family located in Shahzadpur. Rabindranath Tagore composed many of his literary works while living in this mansion.
