President Donald Trump has nominated his long -time associate Sergio Gor, who is currently the Director of the White House President Personnel Office, as the next US Ambassador to India.
In a post on social media on Friday, Trump said that 38 -year -old Gore is a “good friend who has been with me for many years.”
He said, “I am happy to announce that I am promoting Sergio Gore as the Ambassador of our next United States in the Republic of India.”
Trump said he would also work as a special messenger for South and Central Asian affairs. The announcement has come amid tariff tension between Washington and New Delhi.
Trump said that Gore and his team have appointed about 4,000 officers in federal departments and agencies “in record time”, and said that now more than 95 percent of the posts have been filled.
He said that the Gore will remain in his current role in the White House until he is confirmed by the Senate.
Trump wrote, “Gore has worked on my historic presidential campaign, published my most sold books, and operated one of the largest super PACs, which supported our movement.”
The President described the role of Gore in administration as “necessary” in fulfilling his political mandate.
“For the world’s most populous region, it is important that I have a person who can fully trust my agenda and help us in making America great again,” Trump said.
Gore said in a social media post that he is very grateful to Trump, who expressed incredible beliefs and trust in nominating him as the next US Ambassador to India and a special messenger for South and Central Asian Affairs.
He said, “Representing the United States will be respected by my life.”
Vice President J.D. Vance said in a social media post that Gor “will prove to be a brilliant ambassador for our country in India.”
Significantly, Gor will replace Eric Garcéeti, who served as Ambassador from May 2023 to January 2025.
