New Delhi. Sonakshi Sinha recently married her longtime boyfriend Zaheer Iqbal at her Bandra home. While fans were expecting the wedding to be a grand affair, Sonakshi and Zaheer got together with utmost simplicity. Social media users felt that they did so because both belong to different religions. After this interfaith marriage, the couple hosted a lavish reception party for their friends and industry people, which was attended by Salman Khan, Rekha, Honey Singh, Aditi Rao Hydari and Huma Qureshi among others. Sonakshi revealed why she opted for a big reception after an intimate ceremony. Along with this, she told why she chose her mother’s sari for her wedding.
After dating each other for 7 years, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer decided to get married. They got married in a very simple way and then had a grand reception the same evening. Why so? Why did you have a wedding without any band or music?
Sonakshi answered all these questions during a recent interview. Talking to Bollywood Bubble, she said, ‘We were with each other and this is something that we wanted to do for a very long time and we were very clear about how we wanted it. We wanted only a few people to attend the wedding. We also wanted our reception to be a big party where everyone just has fun.
Sonakshi and Zaheer are friends since 2017.
Sonakshi did not want to take any tension
The Dabangg actress said that I did not want to take any tension. She said that guests are always welcomed in my house. I wanted my D-day to be like this. The same was happening on the wedding day. Everyone was coming and going and I was getting my hair and makeup done comfortably.
Why did you choose your mother’s sari instead of lehenga?
Not only was Sonakshi’s wedding a simple ceremony, but she also ditched lehengas for beautiful saris. For her wedding, Sonakshi opted to wear her mother’s old chikankari saree and then wore a red Banarasi saree for the reception. She also answered why she did so. The actress said, ‘I dressed up only because I wanted to be comfortable and I wanted to dance the most at my wedding, which I did.’

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal are now on their second honeymoon after completing their work commitments. Both are enjoying together in the Philippines. They informed fans about Honeymoon Round 2 through social media stories.
