Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday accused the Election Commission of “hiding important information” and claimed that it was effectively saving the people behind the alleged ‘vote theft “.
Kharge shared a media report on ‘X’, claiming that the matter related to the attempt to remove voters by forging in Form Seven before the Karnataka Assembly elections in 2023 has cooled down as the Election Commission has not yet shared the important figures required to catch the accused.
The Election Commission did not react to these allegations at the moment but it had described all such Congress claims in the past as baseless.
Kharge questioned, “Has the Election Commission (ECI) has now become the BJP’s base of ‘vote theft’?” He said, “Understand this development. Prior to the May 2023 Karnataka elections, the Congress had revealed the removal of voters’ names in the Aland constituency. In Form Seven, the rights of thousands of voters were taken away through a very complex process.
Kharge said, “A case was registered in February 2023. The investigation revealed 5,994 fake applications which was a clear proof of the massive effort of voter fraud. After this, the Congress government ordered a CID inquiry to catch the culprits. ”
Kharge said, “But the problem is here: where the Commission shared a part of the documents required to find out the fraud, now it has hidden important information and is effectively saving the people behind ‘vote theft’!” He asked why the Election Commission suddenly hidden important evidences?
The Congress President said, “Who is saving the Commission?” BJP’s ‘vote theft’ department? Is the Commission coming under pressure from the BJP so that the CID investigation can be derailed? ”Kharge said that the person’s right to vote and Indian democracy should be protected.
