The air quality of the capital Delhi remained in the very poor category on Monday also. The Meteorological Department has predicted partly cloudy sky and light rain in the evening.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature in the national capital was recorded at 17.3 degrees Celsius, which is 0.1 degrees Celsius above the season’s average.
The maximum temperature is likely to be around 29 degrees Celsius. The humidity level at 8.30 am was 94 percent.
According to the ‘Sameer’ app of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality index (AQI) in areas like Bawana and Anand Vihar was recorded in the severe category with 401 and 431 respectively.
Of the 38 monitoring stations across the city, 23 have reported the AQI to be more than 300, which falls in the very poor air quality category.
There was a slight improvement in the city’s air quality on Sunday and it was recorded in the poor category, while it remained very poor most of the time. The minimum temperature was 15.8 degrees Celsius, the lowest recorded in October in the last two years.
The air quality index was 292 on Sunday evening, while it was 324 in the morning.
According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51-100 “satisfactory”, 101-200 “moderate”, 201-300 “poor”, 301-400 “very poor” and 401-500 “severe”.
