Huge jump in car sales due to GST rate cut and festive demand

New Delhi, November 1 (IANS). Vehicle manufacturing companies have released excellent sales figures for October. Between the festive season and GST 2.0 reforms, all companies from Maruti Suzuki to Toyota sold more and more vehicles.

According to the information given by the country’s largest auto company Maruti Suzuki, the company sold a total of 2,20,894 units in October, which is the company’s highest monthly sales so far.

Maruti’s domestic sales stood at 180,675 units. Additionally, 8,915 units were sold to Original Equipment Manufacturers and 31,304 vehicles were exported.

According to sales data released by Tata Motors, the company sold a total of 61,295 units in October. Whereas in the same period last year, the company had sold 48,423 units, which shows an increase of 26.6 percent on an annual basis. Additionally, the company also posted highest-ever EV sales of 9,286 units, a growth of 73.4 percent YoY.

The company sold more than 47,000 SUVs, which was also the highest ever share of 77 percent in monthly sales. In addition, the company’s

Demand for Tata Nexon also witnessed impressive growth with an annual volume growth of 50 per cent. At the same time, the company sold 7,000 units of Harrier and Safari in October.

According to the information given by Hyundai, the company recorded total monthly sales of 69,894 units. The company sold a total of 53,792 vehicles in the domestic market, which was a growth of 4 percent on a monthly basis. Apart from this, 16,102 vehicles were exported.

The company’s Hyundai Creta and Venue sold a total of 30,119 units, which was the highest monthly sales of both these cars till date.

Toyota sold 42,892 vehicles in October last month, which was the company’s highest monthly sales. The company registered an annual growth of 39 percent in sales. The company sold 40,257 units in the domestic market and exported 2635 vehicles.
