Lucknow . Taking an important decision regarding paddy harvesting, the Uttar Pradesh government has provided great relief to the Annadata farmers and rice mill operators of the state. Under this decision taken under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 1 percent recovery rebate will be given to rice mills on harvesting of non-hybrid paddy. This step of the government will not only strengthen the agriculture sector but will also pave the way for increase in employment and investment. According to government data, this decision will directly benefit about 13 to 15 lakh farmers and more than 2000 rice mill operators of the state. Apart from this, the Yogi government will also provide a reimbursement of Rs 167 crore under this relief package, which will provide relief to the rice mill industry in production costs and increase competition.
The government believes that the 1 percent recovery rebate will speed up the process of paddy procurement and rice processing at the government level. With this, availability of rice for PDS will be ensured within the state and the need to order rakes of rice from other states will be reduced. This decision will ensure savings at the national level also.
It is noteworthy that the government is already giving 3 percent recovery rebate on threshing of hybrid paddy, for which it reimburses about Rs 100 crore annually.
According to government estimates, this policy will create approximately 2 lakh additional employment opportunities in the state. Experts believe that this step will give impetus to agro-based industries and strengthen the rural economy. Overall, this decision of the Yogi government is being considered an important initiative towards protecting the interests of Annadata farmers as well as making the state self-reliant.
