The GST Council has reduced the tax from 28% to 18% on small cars (up to 4 meters, petrol/CNG engine up to 1200cc, up to 1500cc) and 350cc. These new rates will be applicable from 22 September 2025 (the first day of Navratri).

Benefits for customers?
Prices will decrease after 22 September.
Example: If the base model of Maruti WagonR is ₹ 5.55 lakhs (ex-showroom), it will now have 18% GST instead of 28%. That is, the car can be cheaper to about ₹ 55,000.
