Famous industrialist Gopichand P. Hinduja, chairman of the Hinduja Group, one of the world’s largest business houses, passed away in London. According to sources close to the family, 85-year-old Gopichand Hinduja was unwell for the past few weeks and breathed his last during treatment.
Known as “GP” in the business world
Gopichand Hinduja, fondly known as “GP Hinduja” in the business world, played a key role in building the Hinduja Group into a global empire. Along with his elder brother Srichand Hinduja, he expanded the group’s business into various sectors including automobile, banking, energy, IT, infrastructure and healthcare.
Gopichand Hinduja took over the reins of the group after the demise of his elder brother Srichand Hinduja in May 2023. It was the second generation of the Hinduja family, which took this business legacy established in 1914 to new heights. Gopichand Hinduja’s family includes his wife Sunita Hinduja, sons Sanjay Hinduja and Dheeraj Hinduja, and daughter Rita Hinduja. His son Dheeraj Hinduja is already the Chairman of Hinduja Automotive Limited and is leading the group’s operations.

The Hinduja Group, which has its roots in India but is headquartered in London, operates in more than 30 countries around the world. The group’s net worth is estimated to exceed $100 billion.
