New Delhi. Hinduja Group Chairman Gopichand Parmanand Hinduja passed away in London today. Gopichand Hinduja was 85 years old and was ill for a long time, he breathed his last in a hospital in London. Indian-origin veteran billionaire industrialist Gopichand P. Hinduja is known as ‘GP’ in the industry. Gopichand came from the second generation of the Hinduja family and took over as chairman of the Hinduja Group after the demise of his elder brother Srichand in May 2023. Gopichand P. Hinduja was the chairman of Hinduja Group and Hinduja Automotive Limited in Britain.
Gopichand Hinduja is survived by his wife Sunita, two sons Sanjay and Dheeraj and daughter Rita. Gopichand Hinduja was the UK’s richest person for seven consecutive years. Gopichand Hinduja was born in India in the year 1940. Gopichand Hinduja took his graduation degree from Jai Hind College, Mumbai in the year 1959. He then received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of Westminster. Hinduja was also awarded an honorary doctorate in economics by Richmond College, London.
Gopichand Hinduja’s wealth was said to be 32.3 billion pounds. Hinduja Group operates in 11 different sectors. The Hinduja Group has businesses in the automotive, banking and finance, IT, healthcare, real estate, power, and media and entertainment sectors. Ashok Leyland, IndusInd Bank and NextDigital Limited are some of the famous and prominent brands of Hinduja Group. In the year 1914, Parmanand Hinduja founded the Hinduja Group. Later his sons Srichand Hinduja and Gopichand Hinduja took the business forward and took the name of Hinduja Group to new heights in the world. Gopichand Hinduja was a person of very humble nature. His demise is a huge loss for the business world.
