The capital Delhi was foggy on Thursday morning and the air quality index (AQI) was recorded at 278, which falls in the ‘poor’ category. It is forecast to reach ‘very poor’ category by evening.
The ‘Air Quality Early Warning System’ (AQEWS) has predicted further deterioration in air quality. Between November 6 and 8, pollution levels may reach ‘very poor’ category.
AQEWS also said that the wind speed is likely to increase gradually and may reach around 15 kilometers per hour in the afternoon. However, during the evening and night of November 6, the wind speed will drop below 10 kilometers per hour.
According to the morning air quality bulletin issued by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the AQI in the national capital was recorded at 278, which falls in the ‘poor’ category.
According to CPCB, AQI between zero and 50 is considered ‘good’, 51 to 100 ‘satisfactory’, 101 to 200 ‘moderate’, 201 to 300 ‘poor’, 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and 401 to 500 ‘severe’.
The minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 12.7 degrees Celsius, which is 2.6 degrees below the average temperature of the season, while the humidity was recorded at 75 percent at 8.30 am.
According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 29 degrees Celsius.
