Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Sunday hit out at the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Election Commission over “vote theft”, saying he had more evidence and would reveal it soon.
The Congress leader alleged that large-scale “vote theft” was taking place and claimed that democracy and the “Constitution were under attack”.
Addressing reporters in Pachmarhi, Rahul Gandhi alleged that around 25 lakh votes were stolen, and said that one in every eight votes was rigged.
Gandhi claimed, “Vote theft has clearly been done. Twenty-five lakh votes have been stolen. Every single vote out of eight has been stolen. After seeing the data, I believe the same has happened in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. This is the arrangement of the BJP and the Election Commission. We have more evidence, and we will show it after some time.”
He accused the ruling BJP of creating a mechanism to institutionalize election rigging. “The main issue is vote theft and SIR is a mechanism to hide and institutionalize it,” he said.
The Congress leader also alleged that the Prime Minister, the Union Home Minister and the Chief Election Commissioner are jointly responsible for “attacking democracy and the Constitution”.
Gandhi alleged, “We have detailed information. We have given very little information so far, but the main issue is that democracy and Ambedkar ji’s Constitution are under attack and directly Prime Minister Modi, Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar are doing this in a joint partnership. This is causing loss to the country and Mother India.”
Apart from this, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also interacted with party leaders of Madhya Pradesh unit in Pachmarhi.
Rahul Gandhi on Saturday addressed the training camp of district/city presidents under the ‘Organization Creation Campaign’ and discussed other important issues.
Congress leader Kantilal Bhuria, while talking to reporters, praised the ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ of Congress MPs in Bihar and said that it has created awareness among the voters in the state.
Bhuria told ANI, “The grassroots workers of Congress have to be aware, only then we can foil the BJP’s attempts of ‘vote theft’… Rahul Gandhi created awareness among the voters of Bihar by taking out Voter Adhikar Yatra in Bihar.”
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi attended a training camp for newly appointed district presidents of Madhya Pradesh Congress at Pachmarhi in Narmadapuram district.
A 10-day training camp is going on for the district presidents appointed under the organization creation campaign, and on the seventh day of the camp, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived to join it. Congress leaders will hold a 3-hour session with district presidents here and discuss strengthening the party.
Ahead of the leader of opposition’s visit, Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari told ANI, “Under the organization creation campaign, new district presidents have been appointed in the state and new efforts are being made to strengthen the party. The party is organizing training camps for leaders at the block, district and state levels.”
“At present, a 10-day training of district presidents is going on, and Rahul Gandhi is coming to Pachmarhi to attend a one-day training camp. He will also spend the night here. The Leader of the Opposition is coming on the seventh day of the training camp,” he said.
The Congress chief also said that they will gather with the intention of bringing historic changes to fight against the ideology of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
“The 10-day training camp will have around 25 sessions and Rahul Gandhi will take one session of around 3 hours. Rahul Gandhi will also have a night stay and there will be other programmes, details of which will be given later,” he said.
On the question of BJP targeting the Leader of Opposition who was visiting Madhya Pradesh during Bihar elections, Patwari said that the Leader of Opposition is coming directly from Bihar elections and will return back to Bihar only. He is coming only for one session because there are elections in Bihar, otherwise he would have spent two-three days here.
Meanwhile, at a press conference on Wednesday, Rahul Gandhi alleged “large-scale voter fraud” in the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections.
Citing the voter list released by the Election Commission before the Haryana Assembly elections, he alleged that there are about 25 lakh fake votes in the state. He said that corrupt voter lists weaken democracy.
“We now have proof that voter lists in India are lies,” he said. “If the voter list is a lie, then there is no democracy,” Gandhi said during the ‘H-Files’ press conference.
Commenting on allegations of massive voter fraud in Haryana, he urged India’s Generation Z and youth to protect the country’s democratic process.
Rahul Gandhi stressed that youth have the power to restore democracy through truth and non-violence. He also claimed that a plan was hatched to convert Congress’s projected victory into defeat in the Haryana elections.
He said, “I want the youth of India, i.e. Generation Z, to understand this very well. Because it is a question of your future. Your future is being ruined. So it is important that you listen and see. I am raising questions on the Election Commission and the democratic process of India. I am doing all this with 100 per cent proof. We are absolutely sure that a plan was hatched to convert the Congress’s landslide victory (in Haryana) into a defeat.”
